Product placement

In our group we decided to focus on the genre of rock/alternative. The use of e-commerce in promoting music vidoes and song has proven to be very effective. Companies have access to an audience of billions and can often be done for free.

Part of my research showed that a lot of companies promoted their new videos using free third party websites such as YouTube and social networking sites such as Facebook, they often on YouTube have links to their faicebook page, twitter page or thier website. These methods are effective because they are free and have millions of people who log in to them every day. So there is a potential of having millions of people view adverts for their song and then listening to it because they liked the sample or are just interrested. So if we were to use the internet to promote our video we could decide to create groups on social networking sites and youtube and promote our video that way.

Advertising songs on TV and in cinemas has proven to be quite effective as well, it can be done purley as an advert or a score for a movies. When advertsing albums on TV channels, the advert has potential access to billions of people. A larger audience usually means larger responses and therefore a larger profit margin.

The use of still image advertising in magazines has been found to be the most effective and the most used.Its used the most because it targets the audience that the comapnies know will be interested, its a sure way to get people to listen to your song, most people are willing to try new things and so when they read it in a magazine they will think to look at it, and ofcoure they would be inclined to check it out if it was on the front cover.
